It’s a wonderful Friday evening and TNV has the opportunity to speak with Millionaire Club Member: Mr. Danny Katoa.
Good evening Mr. Katoa. Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to speak with TNV and giving us insight on what you’re doing while staying busy with your TNV business. Tell us, where were you born and where are you living now?
It’s an honor to be with you Mr. James for this interview. I was born in Tonga Island, a small place located in the South Pacific near Samoa and Fiji. My family migrated to Inglewood, California when I was 10 and I attended school in the greater Los Angeles area. In later years, I would apply to college and was accepted on a football scholarship at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu.
I majored in “Partying 101”, no actually, I was a sociology major. When I left California in 1993, I never returned. I fell in love with Hawaii! I met my beautiful wife Katherine and knew this was where we wanted to live and raise our family.
Can you tell the TNV family, what drew you to LegalShield and what were you doing previously before coming on board?
My struggle is what drew me to LegalShield. I was pursuing a professional football career and it didn’t quite work out as I would have liked it to, so my first job was a School counselor. After taxes, I knew I wanted more and was worth more. I didn’t want to work a job for my entire life.
I prayed for something in that season of my life to find my purpose, my own walk. God answered those prayers by introducing me to a total stranger, who ultimately became my sponsor, Mr. Robert Peterson.
This is when network marketing was introduced to me. LegalShield was the first time I had heard of network marketing and I hadn’t realized that people were earning more in one month, than I was earning in one year. That got my attention to find out more…and the story is yet to end because we’re just getting started.
What keeps you motivated and keeps you dedicated to LegalShield?
What keeps me motivated, is remembering where I came from, my dad’s vision, his sacrifice and wanting more for us knowing that we had come from a third world country. My dad is my hero! When I reflect back on how he never allowed his lack to determine the end result, it continues to motivate me and helps me to conquer new heights and to never settle.
My kids, I want to give them a different platform and allow them to see life from a different perspective. I want to also give them the things that I never had as a child. In addition, I have a will to be an example to others in the marketplace and team.
What’s your life like outside of LegalShield?
My life outside LegalShield is all about being the best that I can be for my wife and my sons. I enjoy being a dad and spending time with the boys at their practices, games and other family events. It’s the greatest joy that I have. My dad worked 1-3 jobs to provide for our family. It’s an honor and a blessing to break that stronghold in my family.
As a Millionaire Club Member, what’s the best advice you’ve been given? Can you share one good tip you have learned that could help someone else?
As a Millionaire Club Member, I’ve learned to be coachable. I have seen throughout my journey how people let their ego get in the way. It’s not a hidden secret to be successful in LegalShield and Team NuVision. All you have to do is want it!
It’s really up to us to take information from our leaders in order to make this business work. We’ve been so programmed to people telling us what to do, that we don’t always get what our leaders are trying to tell us.
My tip, to new associates in the business is never fear asking for help. Asking for help is connected with being coachable. Do not allow for a huge ego to get in the way. Often people would rather go broke than to ask for help. You should not be ashamed to ask somewhere along the way. We are all here to help one another become successful.
You have to be willing to apply what you’re learning from our leaders and run with it.
Tell us something that the TNV Family doesn’t know about you?
Gosh…. Hmmmmm, ok I’m named after a Rugby Stadium in New Zealand and it still stands today. It’s called Eden Park Stadium. Long story short, my uncle was going to school in New Zealand, which is where he got the name. Eden is actually pronounced “Iteni”. When I arrived in Inglewood, it was very difficult for people to pronounce my name.
One day someone asked me if my name was Danny (trying to say Iteni) and I liked Danny and it just stuck with me. I’ve been called Ian and many other names as well. But Danny it is!
Mr. Katoa it has been an absolute pleasure to speak with you this evening. The LegalShield and TNV family are so proud of all you have accomplished during your time with the company and the team.
Answer: Thank you Mr. James, it’s been my pleasure.
